About the
Subject:
Engineering mechanics is the application
of mechanics to solve problems involving common engineering elements. The goal
of this Engineering Mechanics course is to expose students to problems in
mechanics as applied to plausibly real-world scenarios.
Topics to
be covered in this Seminar:
Units and Dimensions – Laws of
Mechanics-Law of forces-Equilibrium of a particle-Free body diagram – Types of
supports-Moments and Couples-Scalar components of a moment – Varignon’s theorem
– Single equivalent force -Centroids and centre of mass–Theorems of Pappus
-Displacements, Velocity and acceleration-Rigid Bodies-Friction force.
